Can the same weapon platforms (especially ground) serve in hot war situations, peace keeping scenarios and for rescue efforts? Will the ground vehicles be expected to perform appropriately for all types of missions, or will specialized equipment be needed to handle a peace keeping or a rescue mission separate from a hot war?

I think the concept of scalable weapons and flexible weapons is a logical next step technologically. We already do that to some extent by our widespread use of missiles systems like Hellfire. I see the future as having smaller systems that can be scalable, but there will definitely be specialized equipment for peace keeping and rescue missions as long as the hot war systems are uparmored and heavily loaded down. It often sends a mixed message to send those systems to keep peace.
