As increased attention and funding is provided to SOF units vis a vis the large Army operations, there is an increased tendency to concentrate highly skilled operators in the SOF units to the detriment of the larger Army. Studies from WWII German Army provides cautionary alert about the negative effects of this phenomenon on combat capability of the larger force.

Knowing this, to what degree would U.S. SOF units receive “special attention” from Sillan forces?

  • Kornguth 4 years ago:

Several consequences- the SOF units would either receive very intense fire and maneuver compared with other units or avoided at all costs. The non-SOF units, if affected by proportional loss of high performers with high experience because of policy, would suffer significant degradation.
The history of the German elite forces and of general army, as related by officer cadre, provide lessons learned

  • Kornguth 4 years ago:

An additional factor is that the Silla episode requires a force on force response rather than a small SOF response. The degradation of blue general force resulting from alignment of excellent leaders with blue SOF decreases capability of the regular blue force
